NAME: Midshipman Andrew Brandon

LIVING ARRANGEMENT: A rather comfortable hammock in the Midshipmanís
Berth aboard Indefatigable

FAVORITE PASTIME: Experimenting with herbs and medicines, trying to
perfect my whist game, and just spending time above decks with my
good friend Reg Cousins

FAVORITE BOOK: The-well worn medical text Mr. Hornblower gave me that
belonged to his father; there is a lifetime of knowledge in its notes
that I hope to learn from.

THE BEST FEELING IN THE WORLD IS: Approval. When I have performed my
duties well and know that Mr. Hornblower or the Captain are pleased
with my work.

THE WORST FEELING IN THE WORLD IS: The feeling that Iíve
disappointed someone, like when we lost Carlysle. I didnít think Reg would
ever forgive me.

FAVORITE SMELLS: Any smell aboard this ship, no matter how normally
vile, gives me great pleasure at the moment. However, the smell of
lavender has always been a favorite, it reminds me of my sister.

WHAT IS THE FIRST THING YOU THINK WHEN YOU WAKE IN THE
MORNING: I stretch out and rejoice in the fact that I am not in pain!

BATTLE: SCARY OR EXCITING: I have not participated in many battles
above decks; from the medical viewpoint, there is nothing exciting
about seeing men you serve with battered and bleeding.

FAVORITE FOODS: Lamb. With potatoes and new vegetables.

CHOCOLATE OR VANILLA: Oooohh, I LOVE chocolate. Itís a weakness
that I havenít been able to indulge much.

STORMS, COOL OR SCARY: I love storms. Their power reminds me that
there are stronger things in this world than the people who inhabit it.

FAVORITE DRINK: Apple Cider...wish I knew how Powers managed to
obtain it!

IF YOU COULD CHANGE ANYTHING ABOUT THE WORLD, WHAT WOULD IT
BE: That no human being would ever enjoy hurting another

IF YOU COULD CHANGE ANYTHING ABOUT YOURSELF, WHAT WOULD IT
BE: I would be taller! Seriously, I wish I did not depend so much on the
opinions of others; it can be a difficult way to live.

HAVE YOU EVER BEEN IN LOVE: No, I have not. Yet. I hope some day I
will. Although I must admit the prospect of fatherhood terrifies me.

IS THE GLASS HALF EMPTY OR HALF FULL: It is perfectly balanced
between the two points, but if you do not tend it carefully it will
evaporate all together.

WHAT'S IN YOUR ANXIETY CLOSET: My father, I am ashamed to admit.

WHAT'S YOUR LOFTIEST DREAM: I see so much to be done in the Navy
medically; I hope some day to put what I learn here in a book that
can be used to educate shipís surgeons for decades, so that no
more men will suffer needlessly. I would wish that to be my legacy.

WHAT'S YOUR WORST NIGHTMARE: That I will never be a full
credentialed Doctor and others shall condemn my opinions as
nonsense. That the Hepplewhiteís will win.

WHAT DO YOU WISH PEOPLE KNEW ABOUT YOU THAT YOU FEEL THEY
DON'T: I am not so confident as they think I am. Of course, I have given them
that impression.

WHAT OTHER HH CHARACTER WOULD YOU LIKE TO SEE ANSWER THIS
QUESTIONNAIRE: I would like to know what Mr. Hornblower thinks. I
have tried to guess, and it would be interesting to see if I were right.
